The Finale. Jake's New Tricks.

So finally...after two rambling post, I'm getting to what most of you really want to know.
How's Jake? What's he doing now?

Well, since you asked. My boy has decided to say both daddy and mama.
Let me write that again. MY BOY HAS DECIDED TO SAY BOTH DADDY AND MAMA!!!!
YIPEE!  It's truly is a sweet sound.

He's not walking yet. But he is standing pretty good and he's gotten so much better at cruising around tables and such.  I think he'll take his first steps before too long.

He's climbing the stairs in a flash.

And is just starting to learn how to back down them.

Jake... is a genius.

Here's what he's not doing.. and we are a little concerned.  Jake is not chewing.
Yep. Fourteen months. No Cheerios.  He's crunching on things better but not chewing.
Did I mention he's not chewing. So, if you want to send a prayer up for our boy please do.
His feeding specialist is not concern so I'll pretend I'm not either. I'm just picturing me traveling with a blender so I can puree everything.

Jake's next heart appointment is February 2nd so please pray for that too.

Long story short. Jake is doing like Jake will do.

Long story short----Jake is simply WONDERFUL no matter what he does or doesn't do yet!!! Of course this is his Gramma talking and I'm totally prejudiced. Seriously, he is wonderful and I can't wait to see him again. Our prayers are always with him and for ALL of you too. Love you all!!!

Thank you Jen for your constant update on the progress of your little guy. I read your blog faithfully as often as I can.

Hopefully, he will get the knack of chewing soon and be able to eat regular foods. Nothing wrong with pureed foods, but for my myself, half the fun of eating is chewing the different textures of foods. I have confidence that his therapist will work with him until it becomes natural for him. All his pictures show him to be a very healthy strong little fella.

Yes, we do pray for him every night and for you and Dave also. Trust that God is with you all as you travel this journey with your little boy.

Much love and God bless.

Susan

PS: It sure does look like Santa was extra good to Jake.

Glad to hear about the new words! Morgan says Daddy a whole lot more than she says Mama. She actually calls Ellen Daddy most of the time :) I think Ellen's a little jealous because she's turning into Daddy's little girl. Hope you guys have a great first part of '09. Maybe we can make it out to Thompson's Station soon to see you guys and the Cuffmans.

David and Jake came up for a visit while MaMa got some "MUCH" needed and deservered time with sister Meagan. Anyway Jake and I were DEEP into a My Little Pumpkins book. I was reading and after each page I just said lightly "yeah" Well after saying that twice Jake says "yeah" with the biggest smile and a big YEAH from his Daddy. It was so sweet.
He has discovered our stairs also.
The other two grandkids never paid them much mind. Well "Ole Jake" saw them one day and the next day here we go! Look out Jen, He will be all over the place soon if not already!

Hoping and praying for improvement in Jake's chewing skills. I know feeding issues can be frustrating. It is wonderful he is saying "Daddy" and "Mama!" The things like that make you want to walk on air!

Can you even fire up a blender around Jake, or does he have "normal" hearing? I had to use mine outside on the porch or in the garage for four years because of Erik's hyperacusis. It's almost funny now. *almost*

toooooo cute! can cammie have some of that hair???!

that is awesome that he is saying 'momma" and "dadda." don't those words just melt your heart (except for when they are screamed at 2 in the morning and you really want to sleep?)! cammie isn't much of a talker. in fact she loves our neighbor (jason) and she said jason before she said momma...

i'll definitely pray for the chewing issues. traveling with a blender would be loads of fun!
