Sand....everywhere.

Our sand issue is not because we are at the beach. (i wish) But, because Jake now has this:

He loves sand. Loves to throw it. Loves to roll in it. Loves put his head in it?

Anyway... it's all part of his new playset.

It's all done except for the swing and top cover. Let me take a moment to brag about my good deal... I luv a good deal. The playset...was free!!! Dad and I spent Thursday after VBS staining it but that's all it needed.

So this past week has been out of routine. I helped with VBS all week while my parents ran Jake around to his appointment. A big hug and a kiss to them.

Saturday morning everyone was thrilled when I mentioned going to the Flea market in Nashville. They went anyway. (I got a shirt and four necklaces for 5 dollars)

And tonight we got a surprise and fun visit from my niece and nephew. (Their parents were here too)

To sum it up. Good deals. Good visits. Good times.

A Hard Day.

Riley passed away this morning.

He was my first baby.

Dave and I got Riley about four months after we got married. I named him weeks before I even got him. I would drive Dave nuts because I wanted a dog so bad that I would pretend call Riley's name in our apartment. I would sit on the bed and say "Riley...come here Riley!" I'd then look at Dave and say..."Oh yeah, we don't have a dog."
Needless to say I eventually got my way.

We had him from 7 weeks old til a month shy of his ninth birthday.

He died very unexpectedly and I miss him terribly.
We knew he was slowing down and we had just had bloodwork done Friday.

I will not write a long post about my puppy because there's just too much.

Just know he barked too much, and like all dogs... loved unconditionally.

The Weekend in Two Words... Kentucky. Moving.

Moving is always fun. (yeah right)
But it's a little more enjoyable when it's not you.
(Some of you thought we were moving right?...ahh my little game worked)
Dave's brother and his wife are moving to Louisville.
Dave, Jake and I...even Riley... went up Saturday to help get everything moved in.
It was a short little trip that resulted in some big memories. Like the adventure of staying in a hotel with a dog, a toddler who wants to party all night and 50 others kids staying there for a basketball tournament.
Just so you know... the dog wants to bark... the kiddo wants to cry, and the 50 other kids want to run up and down the stairs outside your room at all hours of the night.
So what are the parents suppose to do? How about muster up the ability to laugh and then purchase venti treats at Starbucks the next morning.
We got started around 10 Sunday morning. These two make a good moving team.
Jake loved roaming around a empty house but he did get confined for a while. He would smile at you everytime you came through the doors. Sweet!
And my favorite picture of all.. an EMPTY TRUCK!!

I was very thankful at the end of the day. We didn't get caught in the 8 mile backup caused by a horrible wreck. And, we rolled in before some crazy, green-sky storms hit. Ahh..thank ya Lord!

American Cutie-Pie

We broke our Fourth of July tradition this year. We did NOT go to Nashville for fireworks.
I'm so glad we didn't. Rain...rain...and a little boy who turned out not to like fireworks kept us away.
We did go to Franklin. Jacob watched the first two go up and go boom, and that's all it took for him to burst in tears and started shaking.
He ended up watching from the car with Tom and Jerry playing on his DVD.
Check out these pictures though of my American cutie-pie. Oh my...dosen't he just make you smile.
