Heart Check

Wheeww!!

I'm so glad today's cardiologist appointment is over.  It's the first time we've gone two months between appointments and I had to fight the fear that we'd gone too long.
So here's the news... we get to go TWO MORE MONTHS!!! YEAH!!!
Once again Jake's heart is holding steady.
I know a lot of people are praying for our little boy and if I could give each and everyone of you a hug I would. So why don't you just throw your arms around yourself just to make me ( and anyone who sees you doing it) happy.
Folks, God is all over this situation. He's already got everything worked out.
I praise God for my little boy.
I praise Him for today's good news.

 I praise Him.

So How's Your Week?

  Busy? Boring? Great? Bad?

Mine has been a little of it all.

We've had some ups and downs this week.  But once again... my Heavenly Father got us through it all.

The Good:
Jake is so close to crawling.
I completed a number of things on my to-do list.
I also saved my 8 year-old fish from almost certain death.

The Bad:
Jake fell out of his stroller. (He's fine... I'm not)
I ruined dinner one night. A so-called easy 30 minute meal.
Jake's next heart appointment is looming. (Yuck feeling coming on..Philipians 4:6-7)

So here's my request. Please pray for my little boy. His heart appointment is just over a week away. It's the 29th at 10am.  To keep it short and simple... I get scared and need the what-ifs to stay away.  Pray for God to bless Jake's heart and mind.  To allow his heart to remain strong and perform a miracle in him.

As always we remain "Joyful in Hope, Patient in Affliction, Faithful in Prayer" Romans 12:12

Too Stink'n HOT!!

It's hard to believe on a day like today...temps in the low 70's...nice breeze....that Saturday was a sauna.
We took Jacob to his first UT football game this past weekend. The weather just did not cooperate.
It was so hot that I didn't take many pictures and the ones I do have aren't very good.
Don't get me wrong we had a great time.
Since the game was so early we started tailgating by 10 a.m.
Jake got to hang out with some of his cousins.

Then... it was time to cheer on band as they marched to the stadium.

I promise we are not just standing in the street. The Pride of The Southland is actually coming up behind us...you just can't see them. (YEP.. a whole band behind us and you can't see them. Hello? Jenny Craig.)
By this time Jake was hot and tired. The temp was in the 90's but the humidity was way up there.
We got to our seats and oh what a sight!!

Last year I didn't make a single game because my doctor wouldn't let me go. It felt good to be back.
Although I was lovin' it... Jake had just had enough. He fell asleep in his daddy's lap.

It was just so hot that we didn't make it to halftime. I took Jake out and back to the shade about halfway through the second quarter. After stripping him down he was once again ready to play.

We spent the rest of the game shopping in the bookstore and running around campus.
The final score... UT: 35  UAB: 3

Caffeine High

I need to go to bed. But I can't. Those three diet cokes that got me through the day are also getting me through the night.
I am not a caffeine person. Well, I wasn't a caffeine person until Jake got here.

So, I've been sitting here ignoring my dryer that keeps fluffing my clothes for over an hour.
I've browsed ebay, tons of blogs, and the today show sight.

While I'm waiting for the caffeine to wear off... I thought I'd  update you on Jakey.

Today we went to the pediatric dentist. Jake has one tooth that just won't come in. His poor gum has been purple, swollen and almost bloody looking for 6 weeks. Thankfully the dentist said it's all OK. But.. he did find something else. Jake's tongue-tied.

I decided today to deal with that tomorrow.

Second.. after the dentist we went to therapy. His Physical therapist says Jake will be crawling by next month. That thrills my soul. Crawling by 11 months. That's not far behind at all.

As you all know that.. it's a huge answer to prayer. Lord, thank you so much for giving me such an amazing little boy.  I know YOU are soo much bigger then Williams Syndrome.

Here's the thing that Dave and I are at peace with. We know God's will is perfect. Jacob is God's will for us. Isn't that just lovely. How can you not smile?

Last night Jake was fixed on only one thing...

He wanted his daddy's PS3 remote so bad. One day soon I'll have to say "David, share with your son".

So that was our day. I even got in some mowing during a nap.(Don't worry mom I had my earbuds plugged into the monitor) I'm a dork and I don't mind yard work. Actually I prefer it.

Now that my eyes feel dry and my mind numb. I'm going to bed.

Fang-tastic

The Nashville Predators season is just around the corner.
So meet this year's newest fan.

I know it's a little big.(Alright...it's really big. But, it's the smallest Dave found.)
Speaking of sports... Jake's first UT game is only four days away.
Hellooooo Rocky Top!!

"Smoky Mountain Rain..".

" Keeps on fall'n... keeps on call'n her name."

Sing along if you like. Good ol'Ronnie Milsap.  I think you should know that I actually have that song on my iPod. I don't know why.

We visited the Smoky Mountains again over the labor day weekend. The third time in about six months. What can I say.. it makes us happy.

Dave fishes.. I relax...hike... picnic.. and shop.

I mean how can you not love a place when you wake up to this.
My parents and sis met us at the cabin this past weekend.
Saturday the guys spent hours on the hunt for trout while the gals (plus Jake) read on the back porch and eventually met up for a picnic.

See those Swiss Cake rolls in the background?  I'd like to tell you I didn't have a one. But then that would be a lie. Yes... they are a weakness.

Afterwards there was this "great idea" to hike Clingmans Dome.. like we used to in the good ol'days. Let's just say... I was alot younger last time I made the hike. It's only a half mile but it's a pretty good incline... and I had Jake on my back.
To make matters worse I had on flipflops and they started slipping so I ended up taking them off.   Shoes... who needs them!

So we had a great time... spent Sunday shopping and got back Monday night.
Since then, Jake has come down with a virus. We went to the doctor today and right now he's sleeping. Oh..my friends...the nights have not be kind this week.  Here's hoping for a peaceful night.
