It's Early... on a Saturday.

My alarm went off at 6 a.m. Saturday morning. Although that's wrong on some many levels, I had a good reason.
I took part in my first 5k. The race was a benefit for Best Buddies. It's a group that pairs mentors with the mentally disabled.
With just about anything I do... I bring along my two favorite people. Jake and Megan. Oh yeah, Dave came along too. ( I love ya.. honey)

The event also had a Nashville Predators connection. Head Coach Barry Trotz was a supporter. He paid for any Predators employee who wanted to take part. I think that's pretty cool. I got to meet him and of course did the mom thing and left him holding my baby so I could snap a picture.
By the way... we walked it and then went to Cracker Barrel. YUM!!

Grill that sucker!!

Long story short. Dave fish. Dave catch fish. Dave release fish.

Dave's friend, also named Dave, fishes. Catch fish. Keep fish.

Jenny say "Cook that baby".

Oh round-about 5:30 Saturday we decided to grill out at a local park. The weather was great here so I didn't want to be inside.

Here's our makeshift picnic.

Jake's newly named Uncle Dave. He was actually keeping him from the fire in this picture..not torturing him like it looks.

Our feast... we had scallop kabobs and the fresh caught trout.

And.. my proudest moment. Making a lantern out of a flashlight, skewer, paper plate and can of pineapple. I be smart!!!

We didn't end up eating till almost eight o'clock. But a good time was hand by all and I think we shut the park down.

Jacob and the Dragon

A scary green monster showed up at our house last week.

But brave little Jacob tackled him head-on.

This is how he faced the red-tongued beast.

Michigan Came Calling

Dr. Edward Bove's office called today. The date for Jake's heart surgery is set.

Honestly, I'm surprised. It's not till OCTOBER 7th!!

So that's it. October 7th.

I learned today they will do the pre-op the day before.

The surgery will take about 3 hours and they told us to expect a hospital stay of five to ten days.
That's better then the 2-3 weeks we had been hearing. Who knows? We'll just be ready for whatever.

Just one step closer.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

I Think Dale Earnhardt Jr. Gave Me a Rash

What?!!!!!

I mean.. Jen, that's not a very nice thing to say. These are serious times in the White house.

Well listen, I didn't say it. My husband did.

What?! What?!

Yes, he informed me last night as I was downing a wonderful, calorie and sugar filled treat that Junior will no longer be part of his life.

Trust me, there's a perfectly good reason why Dale Earnhardt Jr. gave my husband a rash.

Right?

Right.

It's his deodorant. Some kind of new Degree special edition Dale Earnhardt Jr version of sorts.

Between you and me.. that's what he gets for picking it because the case is yellow. Yes, yellow.

It's TIme

Jake's heart doctor says it's time to schedule surgery. We went to his cardiologist this morning.

Whatta way to start a week!!

Sooooo, we're just waiting for the surgeon's office to call and set a date. It could be August.... or September. But it's a'coming.

It's the pits. Let me tell ya.

But here's the good news... there's that peace thing. That grace thing... and that thing I like to call the God-has-got-it-so-let-Him-handle-it thing. Yeah, I like that one.

Just pray for us. Pray that things stay normal for as long as possible. I like normal.
My baby is gonna be just fine.
As Dave says we just have to jump this hurdle and we'll be right back on track.
Don't you worry about a thing. Just send up a few (hundred) prayers to his Maker.
We'd like that.

Short and Sweet

Hey ya'll. It's Sunday night and Dave and I are hangin' out with the little man.
We spent the weekend on the road. This time we went to help Dave's older brother move.
Like the title said... I'm making this short and sweet.
Tomorrow morning.. 9:30....Jake has a heart appointment.
Please pray for him and for us. We know you will.

Yes or No?

So we took a little trip east this past week. We visited my former employer.

Can I get a big HOW-DEE for Dollywood?

It was a little experiment for a possible trip next year to see Jake's main mouse. The big M-I-C-K-E-Y.

So if our visit was a questionaire it would go a little something like this.

Did your child enjoy our very large train? No

What about the carousel? Yes. But we can find one at our local mall.

How about our water area for kids? Loved it. But we can provide water at home.

Does your child enjoy people dressed up as animals? He could care less.
Did you find your visit relaxing? N-to-the-O-NO!

So how about you? Did you as an adult find Dollywood entertaining?

Heck yeah... I bought a season pass.
